I just finished watching the episode Teacher’s Pet. This was episode four of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it dealt with the common high school story of students having a crush on the teacher, however the teacher was actually a praying mantis and instead of students getting a detention they get beheaded. One thing I didn’t like about the episode was that there was no character development of the teacher, we just saw her impressing all the boys and then capturing someone and then being killed. We didn’t really learn anything about how she got to Sunnydale in the first place or why she picked the people that she picked to be her victims. The episode was still good but I felt that it didn’t really progress the overall story of the show, other than making it more obvious that Willow has some sort of feelings for Xander.
I thought it was interesting to see the differences in rationality between the boys who were in love and the girls who weren’t. Willow and Buffy stayed perfectly reasonable the entire time, and when they confronted Xander with all their evidence, he simply ignore them and kept on going after Ms. French. He assumed that Buffy was just jealous that another girl found him attractive, even though in reality he is the one who has a crush on Buffy. Even in the face of indisputable evidence, all the boys who were head over heels for Ms. French denied and justified in order to not let anything get in the way of a romance.

This episode was really enjoyable to me because there was a substitute teacher at my high school last year that every guy was in love with. This episode is very true to real life.
